Welcome to our El ChaplÓn“ House”, an old late 19th century Canarian house situated in the very centre of El Sauzal, recently restored by us with great effort, love and illusion in 2020. We have conserved its structure and essence, maintaining a balance between tradition and functionality. We offer you all the commodities so that its serves you as a starting point so you can discover all the corners of our island.
A house only for you, where we look after the details and pamper you.
DESCRIPTION OF THE HOUSE
It´s a traditional one-floor house, with walls of masonry and wooden ceilings and roof tiles, with a capacity for a family of two adults and two children (sofa bed).
It comprises of a kitchen-dining-lounge, a bedroom, a bathroom and a patio-sunterrace.
The heart of the house is an ample and cosy open-planned design, with kitchen-dining-lounge.
The kitchen is fully-equiped with all the neccesary household items, fridge, microwave, washing-machine,…the dining-room with a table for four persons and the lounge has gota sofa-bed for two, a TV and a workspace with WI-FI.
The bedroom, with its restored stone wall, has got a double-bed and a wardrobe for your things. With the option of a cot if desired.
The bathroom is complete and fully equipped with natural light
And a patio-sunterrace for enjoying the sunny days and the fresh air, with an outdoor seating area for eating, chatting, reading and planning your excursions.
The history of the house
The “El chaplón” house was an austere house from the end of the 19th century, which alberged a modest family dedicated to tillage. Towards 1945 it was usedas a small general foodstore for the local commerce, where the client made a quick stop on his or her way, tying their bundled-up donkeys to a ring outside on the facade. Subsequently, it became used as a home by a numerous family. The local people say, that in those times, the zone was known as La Atalaya (The Watchtower) and due to its sunny disposition, it was a meeting point for the elder neighbours and children in the summer afternoons, sitting on the stone doorstep or chaplón of the frontdoor to chat and play in the street.

WHERE YOU CAN FIND US
We find ourself situated in the centre of one of the oldest little villages in the north of Teneife, El Sauzal. It’s a peaceful pintoresque village, so very quaint and elegant.you can enjoy its peace and quiet and the magic of its charming nooks and crannies, reknown for its popular coastline, which displays some spectacular views of Teide, the valley of La Orotava and the Atlantic Ocean. It also boasts about its impressive sunsets and an annual average temperature of 20.5 ºC.
